| So i've been thinking.... Another great way to raise money for charity would be to release a magazine. To be honest i don't have a clue where to begin but i plan to investigate it more. I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on this, as i thought it would be a great idea to make this something we can all contribute to. Not just the reviewers and interviewers but anyone here who wanted to write an article would be more then welcome!
I figured the way to fund the magazine would be through advertisers.
So any thoughts? _________________ CALLING ALL DESIGNERS!! CLICKY Femme Metal Store Femme Metal WebZine

| Yay, can I do an advice column??
The magazine idea is loved!
The front cover could be of any femme metal band, an album cover, the Ferocity and Feminity poster or anything like that. You'll be needing a contents also.
I give up right now but, I'll think of some things later. _________________

| Its definitely an interesting idea. Printing costs could be quite high so maybe start it off as a PDF download or something like that, till theres a call to get it into print.
If it's for charity obviously you want to put as much money as possible to the cause.
I could see a myspace page growing out of it. Advertisers get a space in the mag as well promo on the myspace page / possibly femme metal till the next issue etc (it would give them more incentive to put money forward).
I think it would be good to establish a small permanent team to work on this to make sure everything gets done and ready for the issues. But also throw it open to anyone who's a member of the forum to submit articles.
Another thought I just had would be to keep to specific sections such as news/reviews/interviews/ etc etc It doesn't have to be hundreds of pages long, but a well presented, well written informative mag on Femme Metal could really boost the scene.
Just my ramblings!! _________________

Great ideas Kat! I agree about the news/interviews/reviews too, i also think there should be a section for new band discoveries and also a section for members of the forum to put whatever they want, well within reason Plus lots of slots for advertisers, and i agree about slots on the WebZine too.
My one concern is why would people pay for something they alreay get for free? They can read interviews and reviews on the zine for free already, so whatever we did put in the mag would have to be enough to convince them to buy it instead of just read the zine for free _________________ CALLING ALL DESIGNERS!! | Say it's going towards charity and it will save lives, if not go in to graphic detail.
By the way I'm joking about the graphic detail part not that it's funny or anything. _________________

| I know of a couple of people who are involved with a magazine that's about two years old or so.....could always sponge them for info if you wish?
To cross some of the features etc over into Femme Metal perhaps to consider :
-- Selling band merchandise, eg - Within Temptation t-shirts. -- Advertising Forthcoming Events & Shows. -- Photos & Reviews of Events & Shows. -- Profiles (as opposed to Interviews) of Femme Metal Singers / Bands. -- Articles about Femme Metal (History of etc). _________________

| Why sell band merchandise through magazine? Was this your question?
Just thought of something else, perhaps consider Competitions for merchandise?? _________________

| I mentioned the idea of a magazine or a comprehensive encyclopedia type of book on the Sonic Cathedral forums over a year ago. That never worked out then; but I still like the idea of promoting the scene, and in this case, a worthy cause as well. Also, I know that I, for one, would buy every issue! What can I say? I am super-duper obsessed.

| Okay I can see this idea going two directions - it could be very successful, and do what it was intended to do - or it could be a flop and a loss of money. If it's handled correctly and done well it's probably going to be successful. Obiviously you'd want to put in interviews you've got from more popular acts, and recent ones too You could even turn it into a yearly publication highlighting FM releases of that year, similiar to what Asleep By Dawn does with the gothic industrial scene. Just a thought though... _________________ You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else. - Winston Churchill

I stopped reading here, I felt this was the only 'direction' of importance. _________________
