| I have been thinking a lot about cancer lately, due to the fact a few people i know have this horrible disease. I would love to wipe it from the earth but i can't So i would like to help anyway i can.
You all probably know about the festival being held next year by myself and Em (Phoenix) which is in aid of Cancer Research UK and now Macmillan Cancer Support. Well i would like to do more to raise money for this festival and the charities involved, so i have decided that the profits made from the Compilation CD will first go to the cost of making a Femme Metal t-shirt and profits after that will then go towards the festival to the raise even more money for the 2 charities. Ronald has given me permission to do so, which i am very grateful for as he is the one paying for the CD Thanks Ronald!
The money raised from the t-shirts sales will then go to the festival for the year after.
All profits made from bands CDs and merchandise sold in the store will go to Macmillan Cancer Support. I will also be doing a whole range of Femme Metal merchandise specifically in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. This will unfortunately mean the competition in process for the new design for the Femme Metal merchandise will have to be canceled as i would like to somehow incorporate the Femme Metal logo with MCS.
Also because of all the significant changes i was thinking about a new logo for FM, to incorporate what we do. Maybe some kind of slogan.
There will be a new competition starting very soon to try to come up with a new logo to use, well everywhere But most importantly on the Femme Metal merchandise. There will also be a competition to try to come up with some kind of slogan to be associated with all we do here. I am very sorry to everyone who submitted designs for the previous competition for the FM merchandise! But in my defense i am trying to do some good out of it And you will have the chance to put forward your new designs for the new logo
I've probably forgotten to mention something but right now i can't think of anything
Any questions? Suggestions? Criticisms? _________________ CALLING ALL DESIGNERS!! CLICKY Femme Metal Store Femme Metal WebZine

| I lost one of my best friends from high school to spinal cancer in my freshman year of college, and I've seen many others cut down by it over the years. My good friend (and boss) Rick currently has it, though his is operable and treatable - he will be going for that next month, in fact.
I have been a staunch supporter of cancer treatment research for many years now, usually running several fundraising activities to benefit the local/national research foundations. For example, last year, I decided to put my talent at superpremium ice cream making to work and organized and ran an ice cream sundae fundraiser...in which I spent an entire month of afternoons and nights (until well past sundown after work every single weekday and several hours each weekend day for 30+ days total) making around 28 gallons of homemade ice cream and seven different types of homemade toppings...all ingredients paid for entirely out-of-pocket, mind you...with all the money made from sales going directly to support the American Cancer Society.
That single fundraiser alone brought in more than $6000 U.S. for the cause. While I was understandably exhausted afterwards, the feeling that I'd done something to help - no matter how insignificant it may have been in the grand scheme of things - was worth all the effort.
I have never heard of Macmillan prior to this, but I assume it is similar to ACS. Therefore, I'm very pleased to hear that the investment and effort I personally put into the production of the compilation will help to support a worthy cause similar to one I support myself. _________________ "Beer and interviews? | you know, Ive been thinking about this all day. I do think its a great idea. We might not need too much cash to get the shirt idea rolling..and once it does, it will start to pay for itself. I'd love to see the cash benefit someone. Excellent idea caz. Bravo.
Honestly, it makes me want to cry thinking about it. It will be awesome to even be a small part of something so big. _________________

| Caz I think it's a brilliant idea. With many people close to me that are cancer survivors (believe me I'm glad I can say survivor) I think it's a great cause. _________________

| I had already expressed my admiration and support for the idea to Caz via pm but want to do it again in this place.
It's really an excellent idea and I am very happy that the profits will find their way to these charities. Cancer is a horrible worldwide problem and wherever or whenever we can do anything to fight it we should do it.
I am also very happy with the fact that everyone supports the idea. And like Caz said, Dave has been extremely important for the CD production and having his support is great. _________________ Going Underground with Maida Vale

| Huh ? I thought I posted here yesterday ?
Anyway, this is an awesome idea Caz. Since this site started Ive been constantly impressed (and sometime blown away lol) by your new ideas, initiatives and your ability to see them through. I expect this will be no different.
My Nan died of cancer when I was eight. I've never seen my mother that sad I doubt I ever will again.

| Sorry I'm a tad late.
This is a GREAT Idea! I donated $70 to a school cancer fund raiser, and I am really one of the people who want the day to come the disease is never seen again. At the time of that fund raiser my friend online was suffering cancer, he beat it this month and I'm so proud of him, I think that motivation and the feeling that someone other than their close friends and family cares helps.
I'll consider looking into buying things if I can (I'm in the US so...) . I'd do anything to aid to a something cancer related. |
